IVY are an Ōtepoti/Dunedin based band, who have exploded onto the scene with a new blend of Art/Alternative Rock.

Jesse Hanan (vocals, rhythm guitar)
James Axton (lead guitar)
Connor Cooper (bass)
Ocean Wilson (drums)
Louis Stevenson (violin)

IVY have quickly cemented themselves as one of Dunedin’s must see acts. After the release of their debut alternative pop single ‘Stranger’ in 2022, IVY have directed their focus towards darker, more complex and brooding tones. The band cleverly combine heavenly, soothing vocals with raw and retro feeling instrumentation, their music evokes a strong sense of nostalgia and emotion. IVY’s change in direction is shown in their single ‘Heartless’ which was named in Australian entertainment magazine Happy Mag’s top 8 songs from New Zealand music month in May 2023. This recognition earned them a slot opening for Dunedin royalty Marlins Dreaming at the sold out home show of their national tour.

After winning the OUSA Bring the Noise band competition in September 2023, IVY had the opportunity to stay and record at the world class Studio Sublime while on their South Island tour over Summer 2024. IVY played at OUSA Onefest alongside Lime Cordiale and The Rions and took to the main stage at Burning Horse Festival in February ‘24.

IVY have also recently featured on major festival lineups including Snow Machine Queenstown and Southern Sounds Dunedin. Having amassed 190,000 total streams and 2,000 instagram followers since their inception in 2022, the band’s sharp growth and fresh sound has turned heads nationwide. With numerous releases lined up and a rapidly growing fanbase, IVY are the band everybody has their eyes on.
